Congratulations to Cindie Ignash and Shelley Stevens, who won the “Return to Elm Creek” Quilt Contest by completing a quilt from my second pattern book, Return to Elm Creek, by June 30, 2005 and sending in a picture of their work.
Cindie decided to make “Gerda’s Shoo-Fly”:
Cindie writes: “This was a great contest and really inspired me. I chose Gerda’s Shoo-fly because “The Runaway Quilt” was the first of your books I ever read and I connected with the character Gerda. Needless to say I was hooked. My daughter (working at a bookstore) ordered all your other books for me. I have read them all (most twice). Back to the quilt… All fabrics excluding the black were hand-dyed by me. This quilt will accompany my son to college and is backed with a multi colored flame to give it a masculine touch. The colors represent our Chakra colors and help provide balance and comfort to those wrapped in them. I included the “Humility” block to remind him that not everyone is perfect and does not have to be… Thanks so much for the inspiration.”
Shelley created her own version of “Miss Langley’s Lessons”:
Shelley writes: “Today I finished my quilt for the contest posted on your website. I chose “Miss Langley’s Lessons”. I chose colors from an upholstery fabric I had. I used remnants from the fabric store and other fabric that I had on hand. What a great time I had in putting this all together! Thanks for the inspiration!”
Both Cindie and Shelley have won a collection of nifty Elm Creek Quilts Prizes:
- One fat quarter bundle of SYLVIA’S COLLECTION from Red Rooster Fabrics
- One fat quarter bundle of GERDA’S COLLECTION from Red Rooster Fabrics
- One fat quarter bundle of THE CROSS COUNTY-QUILTERS’ COLLECTION from Red Rooster Fabrics
- An Elm Creek Quilts pin
- An autographed copy of the seventh Elm Creek Quilts Novel, THE SUGAR CAMP QUILT
Congratulations and thanks for playing!
