I am very pleased to announce that The Sugar Camp Quilt was nominated for a Publishers Weekly Quill Award. “The Quills has been created as an annual awards program designed to celebrate and honor the most popular and prestigious authors of fiction and non-fiction,” writes Chairman Gerry Byrne. Nominees were selected by “an invitation-only national board of booksellers and librarians,” but the final winners will be determined by readers’ votes at bookstores and online.
Before all you Elm Creek Readers rush out and vote for me (because you are all so sweet and wonderful I know that you would do exactly that), unfortunately, I was not selected as one of the finalists. But considering that the finalists in my category are Isabel Allende, Nick Hornby, Sue Monk Kidd, Marilynne Robinson, and Philip Roth, I am tremendously honored and humbled just to be nominated.
Voting will take place August 15-September 15 at www.quillsvote.com and at Borders stores nationwide. I for one am going to have a difficult time choosing between the excellent books these authors published this year.
