Oconomowoc, WI and Milwaukee, WI – Online

August 5, 2021 @ 2:00 pm CDT

Books & Company of Oconomowoc and Boswell Book Company of Milwaukee present Jennifer Chiaverini, the August selection of the Readings from Oconomowaukee series. Chiaverini will be in conversation with Lisa Baudoin and Daniel Goldin.

The 19th century women’s suffrage movement in the U.S. resulted in voting rights for women in all but 9 states but the movement has stalled and a constitutional amendment is needed for women in all states to have the right to vote. When incoming President Woodrow Wilson declares himself against a national amendment for women’s voting rights. Alice Paul and Maud Malone organize a march in Washington to take place the day before Wilson’s inauguration. Themes of resistance, misogyny, and racism echo our contemporary women’s march 100 years later.

Signed copies are available. Personalization requests taken until July 22 – please place request in the comment field. Purchase your copy of The Women’s March at https://www.booksco.com/book/9780062976000 or https://www.boswellbooks.com/book/9780062976000 .
