8th Annual Vernon Country Reads with Author Jennifer Chiaverini

Vernon County Reads will conclude with a presentation by Jennifer Chiaverini on Thursday, August 15th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Westby Performing Arts Center. Admission to the event is free of charge, but reservations are recommended. Copies of the books will be available for purchase at the book signing immediately following the program.

Five public libraries in Vernon County are partnering with the Driftless Writing Center for the eighth annual Vernon County Reads adult reading program. Beginning June 7th, residents are encouraged to stop by their local public library to check out books by Author Jennifer Chiaverini. Jennifer Chiaverini is the New York Times bestselling author of thirty-three novels, including critically acclaimed historical fiction and the beloved Elm Creek Quilts series. The latest addition to the Elm Creek Quilt Series, The Museum of Lost Quilts, was released in April of 2024. In the spring of 1999, Jennifer Chiaverini captured everything she loved about quilting—the artistry, tradition, folklore, and, above all, wonderful community—in her debut novel, The Quilter’s Apprentice. Over the decades and twenty-one novels since, her Elm Creek Quilts series has gained an avid following for not only its devotion to a storied craft and memorable characters but also for its insights into the cultural and political tensions, social movements, and remarkable women that helped to shape America from the antebellum era to today. Chiaverini also wrote the novel Canary Girls, along with other standalone historical novels.
